September is traditionally a month the music industry wakes up again after spending summer on the beach – and there was no shortage of energy around Wolf Alice winning this year’s Mercury award out of supposedly one of the most conservative fields in years.
Gig wise Kyle Falconer holiday from The View landed him at The Brudenell Social Club, whilst on the review front there were new releases from the Treetop Flyers, Maribou State and a re-release for the Three EP’s, one of the Beta Band’s finest moments.
On top of that there was slightly belated coverage of Anna Calvi’s gender bashing Hunter Animal Collective’s experimental art-techno on Tangerine Reef and also a massive playlist with all sorts of the usual weird and wonderful tunes.
