Not that it came out that way on purpose, but February’s been dominated by singer-songwriters, especially people bringing new life to the formula or themselves. Jessica Pratt’s wonderful Quiet Signs took the siren cues of Karen Carpenter and Sandy Denny equally, Bob Mould discovered his happy space on Sunshine Rock whilst Zach Nolan’s love affair with the world continued on Beirut’s Gallipoli.
All the usual stuff was also in the usual places, with your guide to the month’s best songs and album releases, along with a monster playlist that just couldn’t stay still.
