100 Greatest Songs of the Decade #82 Windhand – Winter Sun

It seems like science has now told us everything we need to know and there are no more things under the bed, nothing with red eyes staring back at us out there in the darkness, no warm breath on the back of our necks.

From Virginia, Windhand reside in a genre grown from the spores of Black Sabbath, singer Dorthia Cottrell incanting over Winter Sun’s funereally paced, blackened guitars: “Well better put me in the water/Gonna see whether a witch can float…./I’m the wind, in the wind”.

Maybe your phone is right and the devil doesn’t exist, but damn, he’s got some great tunes.
