Released : 2011
There’s a kind of sub-operatic swoop given to Hanging On by Pat Grossi’s feather light high notes, a vulnerability and grace which makes Hanging On such a rare pleasure. There are plenty of other reasons this song is great – it’s insistent, liquid harp, the push-pull of it’s lucid phrasing – but the singer’s keening falsetto is it’s defining quality, it’s drama, and release.
