1990: if you weren’t having it, loving it, or on a top one matey there almost seemed to be no point. Trashcan Sinatras debut album Cake dropped at the same time the indie world was ruled by anybody from within a 50 mile radius of Junction 20 of the M62, bad timing and bad luck which has dogged the Scots pretty much ever since.
Over the course of time however they’ve shown a determination to find ways to keep making their music which get more admirable with each passing release. Best Days On Earth is what they do best, melodic, unpretentious, smile inducing pop which should never go out of fashion, even if it never was.
