If the cartoon-esque sloganeering and Frankenstein-like composition of Ultra Mono meant that it didn’t linger in the memory much after the initial rush, here was Joe Talbot exposed mercilessly under his own interrogation. Few would’ve said in 2017 on the release of their debut Brutalism that the quintet would arrive at something like Crawler four years later, if ever.
