Hands up, the idea the The Coral could so effortlessly pull off a double concept album about a Britain long since lost to colour TV and twenty four hour petrol stations did feel like a bit of a reach.
The outcome though was never in doubt, Coral Island‘s whimsical nature complemented by the kind of artful songcraft you’d expect from twenty year veterans with always one more story to tell.
