Wolf Alice – Blue Lullaby EP review

Many different sideshows await you in the afterglow of releasing a critically acclaimed album. In the time spent since Wolf Alice dropped their third album Blue Weekend amongst other things the band nearly missed their slot at Glastonbury due to being stranded in LA and singer Ellie Rowsell has hinted at a collaboration with Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

They’ve also found the time to re-record a handful of tracks under the guise of the Blue Lullaby, presented as a means of stripping back material that had originally been some of the most intricately constructed of their career.

This way offers a bit more control than handing material over to remixers and the scope of change ranges from minimal (No Hard Feelings) to bold (the dark alt.country vibe of Feeling Myself). This was time well spent, even if the risk level was always set to don’t stun.
