There’s a point where having buzz band status – harsh, but in most cases true – leaves the artists concerned with a moment of truth. In Fcukers’ case, having first emerged in 2024 with the mind-annexing Bon Bon and gathered props from A-listers by the RSVP-ful, that sliding door moment was always going to be making an album.
Centered around Shanny Wise (vocals) and Jackson Walker Lewis (bass, keys, production), their music is a sometimes chaotic smorgasbord of house, wobbling sub-bass, and refracted synth-pop, with everything heavily informed by dub and then given a playful sheen by Wise’s sugary vocals.
You sense that like the similarly hedonistic Confidence Man, nobody is taking themselves too seriously, but although it clocks in at less than 30 minutes total, Ö would love you to underestimate it. Neither are things one-dimensional – sure, the bangers are there in L.U.C.K.Y, if you wanna party, come over to my house and Play Me, but TTYGF’s reggae-leaning chops are a different groove and closer Feel The Real leans dreamily into Europhile hip-hop. Rubbing shoulders with party perfection on the smartly executed drum and bass of Getaway, with Ö Fcukers show they’re on hater-blunting form and very ready for what’s next.
