Green Aisles is in many respects an almost cover version of The Go Betweens wonderfully potent Streets of Your Town; both are nested, songs within songs about the deceptive nature of suburbia, the comfort of familiarity and the darkness not far from it’s underneath.
Thankfully they were coated with equal doses of the sweetest of guitar nothings, the melodies ebbing and flowing like wind and water, insouciant hugs wearing away gently at our lulled conscience.
Ultimately though Green Aisles is about time and it’s pernicious habit of seeming endless right until there isn’t nearly enough. Whilst you have them, spend five minutes here.
