Truthpaste – I Don’t Know Either EP review

Starting out as purveyors of trad folk, the wonderfully named quintet Truthpaste coalesced in Manchester via university and the city’s open mic scene, but have since relocated to the nation’s capital.

I Don’t Know Either is a deliberate effort however to showcase what they do more in the context of their live work, an attempt to manifest “The many aspects of Truthpaste..we have fun, we dance and we do a bit of folk, but we also rock out.”

This they seem to nail on Bus Song and particularly with the synthy, ska-led opener Never Gonna Give. Lovers of more rustic things will be more inclined towards Swill to The Swine and Friendship is The Truth, but there’s enough here to suggest that Truthpaste have more to offer than just a memorable handle.
