May’s Roundup

Nothing gets people more active than the sound of a much cherished set of performers changing their own game – and few albums this year will be as talked about as the Arctic Monkey’s Tranquility Base Hotel And Casino. Genius or garbage? You can read about it here.

Elsewhere dream-poppers Beach House returned with 7, Californian nu-gazers Soft Science took us back to 1990 on Paris/Sooner and this month’s playlist dragged in stuff from here there and everywhere, a smorgasbord of musical goodness, if you will.

But the month was mostly about live, specifically Live At Leeds, the one day showcase which featured an incredible set from Bristol flower-punks Idles, and then more recently a comeback appearance from The The where Matt Johnson proved that his twentieth-century polemic is just as vital now the more the learn, the less we know.

Thank you to anyone and everyone who visited this month, it’s always appreciated.
